Promotion of cultural events in public spaces through Christmas novenas. The Clown Strategy for Civic Culture and the Nuestra Gente Festival.
To strengthen civic culture and the social fabric of the capital of Valle del Cauca, the Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali, through its Department of Culture and Tourism, reached 800,000 people through a variety of activities.
To do so, he drew on one of the most cherished traditions in our country: Christmas. And with it, the novenas, as an expression of the joy of gathering with neighbors, family, and friends. This is how the public spaces in the city’s districts 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 17, 18, and 19 became the perfect setting to bring the community together through live Christmas novenas. These collaborative spaces allowed for the sharing of meaningful moments, while also encouraging the use of free time through theatrical art. As part of the Christmas novenas, we designed and executed a campaign to promote civic values, leveraging the “clown of civic culture” strategy as a means of raising awareness and fostering civic engagement. Through performances by artists in spaces such as public buses and the bike path, we raised awareness about caring for our city.
In addition, the Nuestra Gente Festival was held, showcasing the various expressions of our culture.
