Regional Environmental Forums
to Strengthen Citizen Participation and Citizen Services
The Regional Environmental Forums (EAR) are a youth participation initiative active in all 42 municipalities of Valle del Cauca. Under the theme “A chat at the town café,” they promote dialogue and collaboration among young people, government institutions, the business sector, and municipal governments, thereby strengthening trust and environmental governance in the region.
For six years, the Tierra Posible Foundation, in partnership with the CVC, has led this process using a participatory methodology tailored to each region, ensuring logistical coordination and collaboration among communities, environmental organizations, and the education sector. The process culminates in the Regional Environmental Meeting on Art and Culture in El Dovio, where art reinforces the message of environmental education.
In addition, the Mobile Citizen Service Centers (PUMAS) decentralize services, streamline administrative procedures, and bring the environmental authority closer to communities, thereby fostering a more accessible, inclusive, and efficient approach to governance in the department.
