Program for the use of leisure time in rural areas and other regions of the country, aimed at the training and reintegration of former FARC-EP members

In partnership with the Ministry of Sports, the project “Sports, Recreation, and Physical Activity: A Means of Making the Most of Free Time in Rural Transition and Normalization Zones” was carried out.

Through this project, a community-based sports initiative enabled members of the FARC-EP who were in the process of demobilization, along with the communities in the 23 rural districts across the country, to have access to recreational spaces and opportunities for leisure activities, thereby fostering healthy coexistence; That is why sports and recreational equipment was provided to the 23 rural districts.

To encourage recreational, educational, and competitive activities within the framework of healthy leisure, health promotion, the rational and educational use of free time, and the implementation of community sports, the project provided training on topics such as: ‘Group Management: Pedagogical Foundations and Training Development,’ ‘Community Recreation Manual,’ ‘Values Education through Team Sports: Culture of Peace and Education in Nonviolence,’ ‘Coexistence for a Culture of Peace: Recreation and Art Workshops’; In addition, sports and recreational equipment was distributed in 14 departments: Cauca, Nariño, Tolima, Chocó, Antioquia, Córdoba, Arauca, Norte de Santander, Cesar, La Guajira, Putumayo, Caquetá, Meta, and Guaviare.
